Legacy product note: Sighthound Video is a legacy product that is no longer under active development. It is available free of charge and community-supported. Sighthound does not provide regular bug fixes or feature updates. For critical issues, support responses are best-effort. Source code is available at https://github.com/sighthoundinc/SighthoundVideo. Existing purchased licenses do not expire. Users may recover or activate existing licenses through the account flow or support form, but new license purchases and upgrades have been removed from the website and should not be promised.
Edition and feature availability: Remote Access and Mobile Access were historically edition-gated. Do not assume they are available in every legacy edition; Sighthound Video 7.0.16 Starter does not expose Remote Access or Mobile Access options. Use this article for installations where the Remote Access tab is available.
Remote access lets you connect to the Sighthound Video computer from another device. It depends on your local computer, network, router, firewall, browser, and mobile-device configuration. Use a strong username and password, and expose remote access outside your local network only if you understand the security implications of port forwarding.

Troubleshooting
- If the Remote Access tab is missing, confirm your installed edition and license activation state.
- If the page does not load, confirm that Sighthound Video is open and remote access is enabled.
- Confirm that you are using the correct address for your location: local, internal, or external.
- Check that your firewall allows the selected port.
- For access from outside the local network, confirm that the router forwards the selected port to the Sighthound Video computer.
- If your network's public IP address changes, the external address may also change.
- Browsers may show a certificate warning because Sighthound Video uses a local/self-signed certificate. Continue only after verifying that the address is your Sighthound Video computer.
