The scheduled recordings feature allows you to periodically record images or video going into or coming out of the Traffic Counter (or other Deepstream) application on a DNN-Cam or DNN-Node.

Note: Scheduled recordings is only officially supported on Traffic Counter v1.9 and later

Accessing Scheduled Recordings Configuration

  • In the Sighthound Platform, click on the device that you would like to configure from the devices list

  • In the services list, select the configuration icon (:gear:) for the Traffic Counter service running on the device to enter the Traffic Counter configuration tool. Here, click on the ‘Service Configuration’ tab

  • All input sources should be shown in the Service Configuration tab, with a config icon (:gear:) displayed directly to the right of the each source selection drop-down. Click this icon to configure this input source

  • Under “List of recording scheduled events”, click “Add list of recording scheduled events” and another dialog will populate:

Input vs Output Footage

“Input” is the raw footage that is being fed into the Traffic Counter application. For example:

“Output” is the footage with bounding boxes and other On Screen Display (OSD) markings, coming out of the Traffic Counter application. For example:

Duration and Capture Interval

For videos, the duration field specifies how long the videos recorded will be, in seconds. The capture interval specifies how often images and/or video are captured. The capture interval entered should be in the format HH:MM:SS. Some examples are:

  • Capture a 5 minute video every 10 minutes

    • Duration: 300

    • Capture Interval: 00:10:00

  • Capture a 1 minute video every hour

    • Duration: 60

    • Capture Interval: 01:00:00

  • Capture a 10 second video every minute

    • Duration: 10

    • Capture Interval: 00:01:00

  • Once satisfied with the scheduled recording configuration, click “Save” in the source configuration. Then click the “Save” button at the top-right hand corner of the configuration page to save the overall configuration to the device

  • The images and videos recorded will, by default, be stored in a Sighthound-managed Google Cloud Platform (GCP) bucket. To gain access to this footage, please contact Sighthound support to set up a public GCP bucket for you.
