MacOS: How To Relax Security Settings To Run An Unsigned App

Let’s try it first, before we modify your security settings.
Right click (or control-click) on the Application icon, and select “Open”
If you get the option to open it anyway, then choose that, and skip past the security settings section below.

Before you can grant permission to this app, your security settings must allow for it.

Open: System Preferences
Click on: Security & Privacy (Icon looks like a little house with a black dial)
Select the tab: General
Click the lock icon on the bottom left of the window
Enter your password (or, you might be able to use Touch ID if you have that)
Click the selection for: App Store and identified developers
There might be a button here to allow this Application to run, if so, go ahead and click that.
Close the window

Now, back to the Application icon…
Right click it (control-click if you don’t have a mouse) and select “Open” and grant it permission to run.
This should allow it to run now.
